BOSTON (www.incnow.tv) - Bishop Emeritus John D'Arcy of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend has been hospitalized in Boston, once again diagnosed with cancer.
A diocesan spokesman would not say what type of cancer D'Arcy, 80, is battling; only that it is not prostate cancer that the retired bishop was diagnosed with nearly two years ago.
D'Arcy was visiting family and friends in his native Boston over Christmas when he became ill.
The bishop will undergo outpatient treatment in Boston for three weeks before returning to Fort Wayne for further treatment.
D'Arcy was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February of 2011, and was given extensive radiation treatments. He no longer has prostate cancer, the diocese says.
D'Arcy served as Bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend from 1985 to 2010, and was succeeded by Bishop Kevin Rhoades.
